“Backseat” Doctor Redefines a House Call

An 88 year-old-doctor from Edwards, Mississippi is on the brink of losing his license to practice medicine. Dr. Carroll Landrum’s license is at risk because the doctor practices out of his 2007 Toyota Camry. The Clarion-Ledger recently reported on the doctor’s mobile medical practice.

FDA Launches Project to Check Pharmaceutical Quality

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently announced efforts to improve pharmaceutical quality and to establish an Office of Pharmaceutical Quality. Shire Settlement over Drug Marketing Totals $56.5 Million

In a recent announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice, a whistle-blower lawsuit against the major pharmaceutical company Shire resulted in a $56.5 million settlement. Lipitor Lawsuits Continue to Accumulate Against Pfizer

The number of Lipitor lawsuits against the pharmaceutical company Pfizer continues to grow. Androgel Manufacturer Drops Plan to Purchase Shire

First Word Pharma reports that Androgel maker AbbVie has abandoned its plan to buy out pharmaceutical maker Shire. AbbVie says the bid for Shire was withdrawn in light of recent U.S. tax law changes. As a result of the failed deal, AbbVie will have to pay $1.6 billion to Shire and will be unable to make another offer to purchase the company for at least a year.
