Illinois Suspends License of Psychiatrist for Overprescribing Medication

An Illinois psychiatrist had his license suspended for overprescribing a dangerous antipsychotic drug, clozapine, in nursing homes and mental health facilities. This overprescription of clozapine has been linked to three of his patients’ deaths. The doctor was a psychiatric medical director for 13 nursing facilities from a base office in a Chicago strip mall. A Toronto hospital is working on developing a device that seeks to protect patients in the operating room. Chiropractic Neck Manipulation May Be Associated with Stroke

Researchers say that blood vessel tears that lead to strokes may be associated with treatments involving neck manipulations. Four large studies that were mainly focused on strokes involving the arteries of the neck were examined to assess the possible links between neck manipulations and increased stroke risk.
