GM Knew of Ignition Defect Before 2004

Federal safety regulators from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently made documents public that show automotive manufacturer General Motors (GM) knew about ignition defects before 2004. Documents in the report indicate that GM officials were alerted to the defect in 2003, and possibly knew about it as early as 1997.

New Study Shows Pregnant Women Increase Risk of Malformed Babies with Antidepressants

A recent study shows that one in five children born to mothers taking antidepressants during pregnancy have a brain defect known as Chiari type 1 malformation. GM Recalls 3.36 Million More Vehicles with Switch Problem

General Motors announced in June that it will recall 3.36 million mid-size and large cars for defective ignition switches. The company already recalled 2.6 million vehicles this year for the same problem. GM also announced recalls for 165,770 vehicles for other reasons, including problems with automatic transmissions and power steering.

GM Allowed Woman to Take Blame for Fiancé’s Death

A Texas woman who blamed herself for the death of her fiancé in a car crash is suing General Motors (GM) alleging the company covered up a defective ignition switch in her car. The now 31 year old pled guilty to criminally negligent homicide in 2004. She was sentenced to five years of deferred punishment and 260 hours of community service. Doctor Found Guilty of Manslaughter for Overprescribing Pills

A doctor in Queens, New York was been convicted of two counts of second-degree manslaughter and many lesser charges for overprescribing painkillers to two patients who later suffered fatal overdoses and other patients who were injured.
