Jury awards $5.5 million in mesh case

In the first case concerning transvaginal mesh implants to go to trial, jurors in California ruled that a manufacturer of the devices and a doctor must pay a total of $5.5 million, Bloomberg reports.

Study: Hip replacement linked to heart attacks

According to a report in U.S. News and World Report, people who have total hip or knee replacement surgery are about 30 times more likely to have a heart attack in the two weeks after the procedure.
