Study shows promise for predicting heart attacks

Time magazine reports research that may eventually allow medical professionals to predict a heart attack.

The report cites a study published in the journal Science Translational Medicine, which examines dead blood cells associated with the formation of clots that can block the flow of blood through the heart.

Nonprofit says safer alternatives to Beyaz, Yaz available

Are the birth control pills Beyaz and Yaz dangerous? That’s a tricky question, according to the National Research Center for Women and Families.

An article by three staffers at the center, including two PhDs, makes the point that a relatively low number of women taking the oral contraceptives containing the synthetic hormone drospirenone – which include Yaz, Yasmin, Ocella, Beyaz – suffer a potentially fatal blood clot as a result.

Before taking Beyaz, or any drug, it is important to understand the potential side effects. Fortunately, most common Beyaz side-effects are quite rare. AdverseEvents, Inc., has listed oral contraceptive Beyaz as one of the drugs most related to loss of libido.

Beyaz shares the list with drugs for prostate problems, anti-depressants, and even the hair loss medication Propecia.
