According to the website of China’s Ministry of Public Security, executives of GlaxoSmithKline’s operations in China confessed to charges of bribery and tax law violations. GSK Cancer Vaccine Falls Short in Trial

A new cancer vaccine has failed its primary-stage development trials. A story by MedPage Today reports that GlaxoSmithKline PLC (“GSK”) has announced its experimental cancer vaccine MAGE-A3 has failed to meet requirements to slow progressions to advanced stages of Melanoma.

More states pursuing legal action against drug companies

The Wall Street Journal reports on increasingly aggressive efforts by attorneys general in several U.S. states to pursue legal actions against drug companies for deceptive marketing.

Using consumer protection laws as a basis, state officials have gone after some major pharmaceutical companies, including GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi SA, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

Lopez McHugh attorney takes on pharmaceutical giant

The Pennsylvania Record reports that attorney Michael Katz of Lopez McHugh has filed a product liability claim against GlaxoSmithKline, on behalf of a New York woman who alleges the pharmaceutical company’s anti-Lyme Disease vaccine harmed her.

Katz filed the civil action July 9 at Philadelphia’s Common Pleas Court, also naming Smithkline Beecham Corp. and various subsidiaries as defendants.
