It was nearly four years ago that 75-year-old passenger Bernice Kekona mistook an escalator for an elevator at Portland International Airport while traveling from Hawaii to Spokane, Washington. Ms. Kekona had an amputated leg and a variety of other health concerns, so her family arranged for her to have gate-to-gate service during her connection.
