The Esophageal Cancer Action Network, or ECAN, is working to shine light on the possibility of over-the-counter acid reflux medications increasing a patient’s risk for a type of cancer called Barrett’s esophagus. The group recently conducted a poll that found 86 percent of Americans are unaware of the danger they assume when taking common drugs like Prilosec and Nexium.
