$73 Million Awarded to Woman Injured by Boston Scientific Mesh Implant

After winning the first two trials over injuries allegedly caused by its Obtryx sling, Boston Scientific has been ordered to pay $73 million to a plaintiff in a Texas state court case. A Bloomberg story reports that this is the first award against this particular company because of a vaginal-mesh implant.

Family Receives $2.95 Million Alleging Harm by Presence of Fracking

A family in Texas harmed by Aruba Petroleum’s release of dangerous air pollutants from fracking wells received $2.95 million in damages in a recent Texas court decision. Plaintiffs Reject Their Part Of $100 Million NuvaRing Settlement

A $100 million settlement with Merck & Co. has been finalized as 95 percent of claimants opted to receive compensation. The settlement regarding the company’s hormonal contraceptive, NuvaRing, was announced in February. There will be about 3,800 people that will receive compensation through the NuvaRing settlement.
