Yaz lawsuits affect Bayer profits for 2nd quarter

Bayer’s second quarter earnings are down, largely because of costs associated with settling lawsuits from consumers who claim the pharmaceutical giant’s Yasmin line of birth control pills caused health problems, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports.

Study links snoring with blood clots

According to a story in the U.K. newspaper Daily Express, a study found that people who snore are three times more likely to suffer a potentially fatal blood clot.

According to a Bloomberg report, Bayer has said that settlements of U.S. lawsuits over its Yasmin line of birth control pills have reached more than $402 million.
