$73 Million Awarded to Woman Injured by Boston Scientific Mesh Implant

After winning the first two trials over injuries allegedly caused by its Obtryx sling, Boston Scientific has been ordered to pay $73 million to a plaintiff in a Texas state court case. A Bloomberg story reports that this is the first award against this particular company because of a vaginal-mesh implant.

Pelvic Mesh Litigation Filings Continue to Accumulate

Philadelphia mass tort pelvic mesh filings are increasing steadily after the creation of a mass tort category for these cases in February. An article in The Legal Intelligencer reports that the largest accumulation of case filings occurred in June of 2014, when 375 cases were filed.
