Nationwide Recall of Aspirin Bottles Containing Tylenol

Nationwide emergency recall of baby aspirinA nationwide emergency recall of baby aspirin bottles was initiated on June 17th, 2013 after a CVS pharmacist discovered one bottle had been filled with acetaminophen — otherwise known by the brand name Tylenol.

More than 16,000 bottles have voluntarily been recalled by Advance Pharmaceutical, Inc., the company responsible for the filling and labeling of the bottles. These bottles are labeled “Enteric Coated Aspirin Tablets, 81-mg.” The recall was prompted by a ...

FDA issues recall for defibrillators

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a Class 1 recall for certain models of the HeartSine Samaritan 300/300P Public Access Defibrillator.

According to the FDA, the problematic models were manufactured and distributed from August, 2004, through January, 2011.

The problems with the devices are twofold.

Hybrid luxury Fisker Karma catches fire

The automotive site Jalopnik reports that a Fisker Karma hybrid-electric luxury sedan set itself on fire recently while its owner was purchasing groceries in Woodside, Calif.

In May, according to Jalopnik, a brand-new Fisker Karma sedan was blamed for a house fire in Houston.

Toyota recalls 700,00 vehicles

Toyota Motor Corp. has announced that it’s recalling 778,000 RAV4 SUVs and Lexus HS 250h sedans in the U.S. to fix a suspension problem that could cause crashes, according to a report in the Huffington Post.

According to the report, Toyota reported nine crashes and three injuries from the problem. If rear suspension nuts aren’t tightened properly after a wheel alignment, the company said, the arms can rust and separate from the vehicle.

Ford recalls about 421,000 vehicles

Ford has announced the recall of about 421,000 Escapes from 2001-4 in the United States over a defect in the cruise control cables that could make the vehicles susceptible to unintended acceleration, the New York Times reports.

The recall was announced after a recent demand by the Center for Auto Safety, a nonprofit consumer group, that Ford fix the cables, which the center said could be damaged by repairs for an unrelated recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced ...

Brilliant Blue G recalled over contamination concerns

The U.S. Food and Drug administration sent out a notice to physicians recently that Brilliant Blue G – a food dye that’s also been found to have medical applications — from Franck’s Lab is being recalled because of concerns over possible fungal contamination.

According to the notice, the FDA received reports that patients being treated with Brilliant Blue G have suffered fungal eye infections.

The dye has been used by eye surgeons to help them better differentiate various parts of the eye.
