FDA says hip implants more likely to fail in women

A new study funded by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that artificial hip implants are more likely to prematurely fail and need replacement for female patients, according to a CBS News story.

A Los Angeles jury has awarded $8.3 million in damages to a man who claims he suffered metal poisoning from an artificial hip implant manufactured by Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopedics division.

DePuy marketers worried about profits, not patients
