What are the side effects of Beyaz?

Before taking Beyaz, or any drug, it is important to understand the potential side effects. Fortunately, most common Beyaz side-effects are quite rare. For example, according to the label, the most common adverse reactions include headaches, menstrual irregularities, nausea/vomiting, irritability, decreased libido, and increased weight.

Other less common, but more serious Beyaz side-effects listed on the label include:

Beyaz on list of libido-inhibiting drugs

AdverseEvents, Inc., has listed oral contraceptive Beyaz as one of the drugs most related to loss of libido.

Beyaz shares the list with drugs for prostate problems, anti-depressants, and even the hair loss medication Propecia.

AdverseEvents, Inc. – which collates information from the federal Food and Drug Administration Adverse Events Reporting System database – compiled a list of FDA approved medications most associated with causing brain-related side effects in recognition of Brain Awareness Week (March 12-18).

Yaz maker Bayer criticized over “price gouging”

International health advocates are criticizing Bayer after the German pharmaceutical giant announced it may contest a decision that could make life-saving medication available to cancer patients in the developing world.

In a landmark case, the Indian Patent Office issued a compulsory license in India to a generic drug manufacturer, effectively ending Bayer’s monopoly on a drug used to treat kidney and liver cancer.

Writer attributes blood clot death to Yaz

In an issue of “Salon,” blogger Jonathan Manor writes about the death of an acquaintance from a blood clot in her lung, which he attributes to her use of the contraceptive Yaz.

In the piece called “Yaz Birth Control Killed the Sister I Never Knew,” Manor describes being in the hospital when the woman – the sibling of his brother’s girlfriend – died.

Women at particular risk from faulty hip implants

Although metal-on-metal hip implants have high failure rates for both sexes, women in particular have suffered from receiving the faulty devices, according to a report in the Guardian.

U.K. joint replacement experts called for the metal-on-metal implants – where both the ball and socket are coated in metal – to be banned following the medical journal Lancet’s release of a report earlier this week finding “unequivocal evidence” of high early failure rates.

FDA panel illustrates need for open records

From March 11 through 17, journalists, civic groups, nonprofits and other open government advocates are observing “Sunshine Week,” which is a national initiative to promote the importance of public access to government records and keeping government officials accountable.
