Scientists developing miniature robot to treat clots

A report in the Sydney Morning Herald says scientists in Australia are developing a miniature robot called the Neuroglide that would be able to navigate through the arteries of the human brain and remove life-threatening blood clots in stroke victims.

Therapist: Pitcher lucky blood clot diagnosed early

In a piece for the Huffington Post, sports physical therapist Abby Sims writes that Dillon Gee of the New York Mets was fortunate that a timely examination revealed the presence of a blood clot in his pitching shoulder.

Yasmin maker agrees to illegal marketing settlement

Bayer, maker of the Yasmin line of birth control pills, has agreed to pay $15 million to settle a lawsuit alleging that it illegally marketed aspirin mixed with supplements, Bloomberg reports.

Consumers sued a unit of the company, Bayer Healthcare LLC, in 2008 over its Bayer Women’s Low Dose Aspirin + Calcium and Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage, containing the supplement phytosterols.
