Amorina Lopez has been an attorney at Lopez McHugh since 2011. Ms. Lopez handles a variety of cases, including medical negligence, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, birth injury, dental negligence and other personal injury and wrongful death actions. Whether writing a legal brief or appearing in the courtroom, Ms. Lopez fervently advocates on behalf of each of her clients.
Amorina Lopez earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007 from the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in English. During her course at the University of California, Berkeley, Ms. Lopez clerked for the nationally recognized consumer protection law firm, Robinson, Calcagnie, Robinson in Newport Beach, California.
After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, Ms. Lopez joined the talented team at Lopez McHugh as a clerk. During this clerkship, Ms. Lopez worked on the mass tort litigation involving Cypher and Taxus Drug-Eluting Stents. It was at this point that she discovered her fervent desire to advocate on behalf of those injured by corporate injustice.
In 2011, Ms. Lopez earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. While attending law school, she worked for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as a certified law clerk where she wrote and successfully argued motions before the Orange County Superior Court. Ms. Lopez also completed an externship as a certified law clerk for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office as part of her enrollment in Loyola Law School’s William Hobbs/Poehls Trial Advocacy Program during her law school tenure. Ms. Lopez was assigned to the preliminary hearing unit where she drafted and conducted felony preliminary hearings.
In addition to gaining courtroom experience in the criminal law field, Ms. Lopez interned with Lopez Mchugh throughout her law school career, cultivating her civil litigation skills and strong aspiration to redress the grievances of those injured by corporate misconduct.
Ms. Lopez has successfully litigated complex medical negligence cases, including those involving serious birth injuries. She is passionate about being the voice for those injured by the negligence of others and is qualified to do so.
She is also currently working on mass tort cases involving defective drugs and medical devices and is presently on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for the Cordis® litigation and leading the firm’s efforts in the California state court Lipitor® litigation.
Ms. Lopez is admitted to practice before all of the courts of the State of California, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the American Bar Association (ABA), and the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA).
Ms. Lopez takes pleasure in travel, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoys spending time with her husband and colleague, Matthew, and their two sons.
