A recent story in the Washington Post describes a report by the Endocrine Society that many men are receiving testosterone therapy when they do not need it.  The research demonstrates that a large portion of patients do not meet the accepted clinical criteria for receiving testosterone treatment.

Further studies needed about risks of testosterone therapy

A report from CBS News suggests further studies are needed to assess the risks of testosterone therapy.

Testosterone therapy, also called androgen replacement therapy, was approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a way for men to improve health. However, there is little data on its long-term effects. Previous studies indicate that testosterone therapy is associated with an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and death.
