Nearly 2 months after the deadly building collapse at 22nd and Market, an explosion in South Philadelphia has left 8 injured while destroying 3 row homes.

FDA accused of inadequate response to diabetes drugs

An investigation in the medical journal BMJ faults the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its tepid response to reports that diabetes drugs including Byetta and Januvia may be linked to pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.

Medical professionals concerned over Benicar reports

Reports linking the blood pressure medication Benicar to intestinal problems were a hot topic of conversation at this year’s Digestive Disease Week meeting — considered the largest and most prestigious meeting in the world for the gastrointestinal professionals.

Hepatitis outbreak linked to frozen berries

An outbreak of hepatitis A has been reported in five western states, and government officials say frozen berries may be the source.

A CBS News report says the illnesses were first reported in April, and 30 people have since been infected in Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and California. Nine of them have been hospitalized.
