Physician warns of side effects from Ocella

An article on Website Helium.com by physician Dr Pandula Siribaddana lists the side effects associated with birth control pill Ocella.

According to Siribaddana, Ocella is associated with some relatively inconsequential side effects such as weight gain and breast tenderness. But he writes that the pill can also cause blood clots. So women using it should be wary of the following symptoms associated with blood clots and seek immediate medical attention if they occur:

  • Loss or alteration of vision, hearing or speech.
  • A feeling of heaviness or pain in the chest; or excessive sweating with pain running to arms, neck or jaw.
  • Sudden weakness of arms and legs, confusion, numbness of hands and feet.

Several studies show that Ocella, Beyaz, Yaz, Yasmin, and other birth control pills containing the compound drospirenone are more likely to cause blood clots, pulmonary embolism, and stroke than other contraceptives. If you’ve suffered injury as a result of taking Ocella, Beyaz, Yaz or Yasmin, contact Lopez McHugh for a free consultation.
