Article Published by Associate Jenimae Almquist on Philadelphia Court System Efforts to Go Green

Associate Jenimae Almquist has an article published in the August 2011 edition of the Philadelphia Bar Reporter, entitled “FJD Works to Cut Carbon Footprint, Costs”.

The article examined steps taken by the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas to conserve natural resources, for example:

  • expanding the electronic filing system in order to minimize the use of paper
  • recycling old computers
  • conserving electricity and utilizing energy efficient equipment,
  • advocating alternatives to commuting such as public transportation or biking,
  • and recommending the use of video conferencing instead of travel.

These are also steps that any law firm can take.  Jenimae Almquist is a member of the Philadelphia Association’s Green Ribbon Committee, and Lopez McHugh is one of the first nine firms to sign the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Green Ribbon Sustainability Initiative, dedicated to conserving natural resources in the ordinary course of business.
